IBM System Storage Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Identify SVC/IBM Storage Virtualize volume when RTD is detected on backend FlashSystem

When Real-time Threat Detection/RTD detects suspicious activity on an IBM FlashSystem that is used as backend storage behind IBM SAN Volume Controller/IBM Storage Virtualize, the current event information identifies the affected backend FlashSystem volume. However, it does not identify the corresponding SVC/Storage Virtualize volume that is consuming that backend capacity.

The requested enhancement is to provide end-to-end RTD event correlation so that, when RTD is triggered on a FlashSystem backend volume, the event also identifies the affected volume at the SVC/Storage Virtualize layer.

This enhancement is important for customers using SVC/IBM Storage Virtualize as a strategic virtualization layer in front of FlashSystem storage.

Without this functionality, RTD events on backend FlashSystem storage require manual investigation to determine which SVC volume, host, or application may be affected. This increases response time during a potential ransomware or cyber-resilience incident.

It would make sense to have such integration to provide end to end visibility to our clients.

make sense, as currently we don't have full RTD workflow implemented across block storage virtualization
