RADIUS Authentication Support and Expanded MFA Options for IBM FlashSystem

I'd like to propose adding support for authenticating FlashSystem arrays to an external RADIUS server.

Increasingly, customers are requesting MFA implementations where the array authenticates via an open protocol like RADIUS to an external server, which then handles various MFA methods.

Additionally, it would be beneficial to expand native MFA options beyond the current two methods—most modern MFA solutions are based on platforms like Microsoft 365, Google Authenticator, and similar.

This would enhance security flexibility and align FlashSystem with enterprise standards.

Thank you for submitting this Idea. We are currently evaluating your request.

    These are supported authentication providers:

    • IBM Security Verify

    • Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)

    • Microsoft Azure Entra ID

    • Okta

    • Duo Security

    • PingOne

You can delegate GUI SSO to the authentication provider and then configure any third-party app for multifactor authentication.

We also support native multifactor authentication direct from the GUI and CLI, where the first factor login is local user or LDAP. This is only supported with IBM Security Verify and Cisco Duo.

Is there a specific external service that you would like to see us support?

Or are you instead looking for a native one-time password (TOTP) option built into the GUI, with no external identity management software?

    Thanks,
    FlashSystem Team
