Iimprove the Event Notification alert emails sent from FlashSystems

As reported:

Our FS7200s are configured to send us email alerts whenever an event occurs on the system, including Warning level events, Informational level, as well as Error level. On a given day we may receive anywhere from 5 to 15 alerts of unique types and IDs, but for all of those alerts, the email subjects all say the same thing “2076 Warning Event” or “2076 Information event”, which makes it very hard to figure out if the emails require our attention or not, especially when reading on a mobile device.

current workaround:

wait until we’re by a computer and either open each email individually and fish through all the email bodies, or go login to the FlashSystem GUI and match up emails to alerts

Business impact:

on several occasions we’ve missed important events in the system that had required timely attention

proposed resolution:

1) remove the generic ‘2076’ and replace it with the actual unique error code, and

2) a more descriptive subject, for example:

Replace “2076 Warning Event Notification” with:

‘Warning Event: Node is Offline’ or ‘Warning Event: Node Missing. The Node is no longer….”

What Release do you see the problem on?

All FlashSystems versions we’ve been on, including current 7.8.0.2
