The GUI should already prevent this.
If you try to delete a volume group that still contains volumes, it will not allow it.
If you delete all the volumes but there are still snapshots associated, when you try to delete the volume group it will return an error and block the deletion.
Can you confirm whether you are seeing different behavior, or if you can reproduce the issue you observed?
