PBHA/R limit: how much in use?

There is a limit of 4096 TiB for HA or 2048 TiB for 3-site HA+async. It is not easy for a user to see how much can be added before that limit is reached. Can we provide this in GUI (or CLI).

This limit is in terms of the total virtual capacity of the replicated volumes (hidden volumes - change volumes - don't count towards this figure).

To calculate the amount of further replication that can be added:

  • Sum the virtual capacity of volumes in each volume group

  • For groups with 2-site replication, use 1x the volume capacity. For groups with 3-site replication, use 2x the volume capacity

  • The amount of replicated capacity that can still be added is 4096 TiB minus the replicated capacity calculated above

The default lsvolumegroup CLI command does not give a total for the host-visible volume capacity. The lsvolumegroup -gui command gives a host_provisioned_capacity field which can be used to avoid having to sum individual volume capacities.
