My customer is planning to tech refresh their existing SAN Storage and IBM is one of the 4 vendors participated in the POC.
With customer existing DR operations, the storage DR volumes are always at Online status, hence the volumes are always mounted read-only for the DR hosts. This helps in 2 ways:
1) Minimal server admin intervention during DR operations, because the DR volumes were already mounted up front. This also reduce the complexity and human error during DR activities.
2) Minimize the RTO. Without the need of DR host scanning and mounting volumes, customer currently managed to achieve the end to end RTO < 1 hour.
All the vendors able to meet this particular requirement, except IBM FlashSystem. In FlashSystem PBR the secondary volumes are always Offline.
We would need this capability to be added into PBR.
