Spectrum Virtualize: test snmp trap request Merged

UPS has requested that we include a test snmp trap option into Spectrum Virtualize. UPS has a large installed base of third-party storage equipment and all of their systems have the ability to do this. Further, the Enterprise Systems Management tools UPS have deployed world-wide utilize SNMP protocol.

The direct quote from the customer is:

"This inability to generate a test snmp trap on the IBM FlashSystem 9200’s is a gap in your product. Every device we have today has the ability to run a command to send a test trap. I should not have to stop/start things to do this as a workaround."

IBM has recently within the last year or so managed to persuade UPS to consider our FlashSystem storage platforms (running Spectrum Virtualize software) for specific workloads. UPS and IBM would like to explore broadening the applications that FlashSystems are used for, but UPS has certain requirements we must meet. Being able to integrate with their existing environment, including their management infrastructure, is one of them.
