Merged idea
This idea has been merged into another idea. To comment or vote on this idea, please visit SCSI-I-829 SVC is not aware of AIX LPM-capable secondary WWPNs, causing all AIX LPM-capable LPARs always seen as Degraded.

SVC/Storwize + LPM Degraded Merged

SVC code should allow paired WWPNs so that properly configured IBM POWER LPM LPARs will not show degraded.

This cannot just be "all odds, or all evens", because an LPAR could move, then replace or add a virtual adapter, and it would have a mix of odd and even.

This cannot be just "half" because you could never really know for sure that it was proper config.

NPIV WWPNs can be odd or even aligned if customer specifies WWPNs.

Usually, the WWPNs will start with C050, so it could find for all WWPNs starting with C050, which are adjacent. Then, the offline port = degraded would only be triggered if it causes a pair to be offline, rather than any port. This could be unique to an "LPM" host type to reduce the risk of the logic affecting non-LPM hosts.

Alternatively, an option to assign a pair of WWPNs as a single entity within the host definition; however, that seems like it would be much more complicated to code (though less likely to have a logic error reporting an incorrect status).

Hi, Josh. I have a RFE open for this too, http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=112925
Anyway, I just vote for your request! Good luck, and I hope we can make this happen for the next svc code releases.
