This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Support SSL/TLS connections for SMTP to provide support for email notifications for cloud based solution requirements introduced after the recent Heartbleed vulnerability no longer allowing unsecure SMTP relay.
After the Heartbleed vulnerability, the SMTP servers seems to have updated with the new SSL version so the SVC and V7000 storage boxes were not able to send email.
We opened a PMR for this issue without knowing the root cause and the support found that there is a version mismatch between the SMTP SSL and SVC SSL standards.
Support asked us to turn off the TLS enforcement on the SMTP and test the email delivery but the SMTP used in Hanover is a cloud solution and we cannot modify the settings.
So I created a PowerShell script to check the SVC event log every 15 minutes and send an email to the recipients if critical or warning events are logged on the system.
This runs external to the SVC system as a workaround.

Please note that this restriction currently prevents a SVC or Storwize system from sending call-home emails. Addition of this feature would be most appreciated!
