non-destructive later-on encryption activation

When customers decide not to buy encryption enablement right away with a new FlashSystem but later on because eg they get this as a new requirement or change in corporate policy, they need to destroy all data on the system and re-create arrays to enable encryption as most of the time there's only one array present. But even with more than one array, it's a tedious process to encrypt existing data and it requires sufficient spare capacity. Most of the time this is a major no-go / showstopper and actually contrary to our overall ease-of-use design. While there's no alternative when using industry SSDs, with our FCM modules we should offer a non-destructive later-on activation of array encryption. In fact, this would simply exploit the feature that has already been present on FS900-AE3 models and it would give us not just yet another advantage in favour of FCMs over SSDs but also another "easy of mind" item so customers can take the encryption route any time required without much effort.

Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. We have reviewed this request and believe it is a good candidate for Spectrum Virtualize.

We appreciate your input and hope that you will continue to submit enhancement requests, as this feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Spectrum Virtualize and FlashSystem family.

    Thanks,
