Allowed DRS sources vs remote locations (ROBO)

We currently have 2 onprem clusters for DP configured within DRS.  We have those 2 discovered and scanning/reporting within DRS.  We also added multiple Vcenter connections to DRS, which manages our clusters onprem as well as remote sites where ROBOs are installed.

DRS will report on backup retention/configurations and VMs being backed up or not, but will alert on VMs not being protected for the ROBOs, as it only sees the onprem VCenters and the 2 onprem DP clusters.  It does not contain connections to the remote ROBOs.  Each ROBOs as you know, is independent from one another.  We have hundreds of them.

If we want DRS to report correctly, it would need to be connected to each ROBOs, which would then in turn show DRS that the VMs are indeed backed up properly.  But that means hundreds of sources?

But, couldn't DRS connect and gather its information from DMS instead?  Where all the ROBOs are already registered, as it would see the Protection Groups, the results of the runs etc...

Hi   Yes we use DMS.  Indeed, as mentioned in my previous comment, if it would discover the ROBO clusters through the DMS instance, they would at least be able to populate quickly and easily.  They would also be able to report proper backup configurations and status.

Do you use DMS? If we had a way to connect "indirectly" to ROBO clusters by discovering them through DMS would that solve your request?

Connecting and gathering from DMS, would only allow for REPORTING and ALERTING I would think...but still could be useful if that is all you are looking for.  But would not allow Sensor push for example...food for thoughts...
