IBM System Storage Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

support volume groups in ownership groups

When using ownership groups to fence off volumes/vdisks and the associated hosts and mappings there's currently no support for volume groups which are in turn required to use policy-based replication for such vdisks. As we want to replicate vdisks...

Create a hidden command to allow a change for the number of concurrent SSH connections to SVC/FlashSystem

The current limits of SVC/FlashSystem software to the admin connection limit the ability to run ansible playbooks and/or ssh automations during cluster migrations and can limit the ability to automate failovers of a large number of systems during ...

Provide the ability to change the system layer from Storage to Replication without requiring a resynch for systems with established partnerships to allow systems to participate in FlashSystem grid.

Currently, in order for a FlashSystem to participate in FlashSystem grid they have to be in the replication layer. Prior to 8.7.0 arrays were shipped in the storage layer by default. My client has 21 FlashSystem arrays and 18 of them are currently...

Increase number of extents per cluster

Currently a system with extent size of 1 GiB does only support a managed capacity of 4 PiB. We need more scalability without using a larger extent size, e.g. managed capacity of 8 PiB with an extent size of 1 GiB.

Policy Based Replication Recovery Volume Names

We appreciate the simplicity of Policy Based Replication setup; however, we are in need of these two features to be added: 1. Allow custom naming of the recovery volumes. This is needed because we do not use the same system names between each site...
