TS7700 pSeries PCI bus error recovery

The customer suffered an incident with the I/O drawer as reported in PMH 49532,200,838

To solve the issue they had to reboot the TS7700.

Apparently this a know issue, but IBM is not planning at present to solve this issue. It is a problem with the pSeries PCI bus that has been present since the beginning of v07 and VEB.

The customer would like IBM to consider the improvement to solve this issue and avoid the customer's to have to reboot their system to recover from it.

In case it is not feasible the customer would like to know if future versions/architectures of the TS7700 will solve this issue.

The TS7700 design point does not include accepting a situation such as described here, and saying 'live with it'. Several patches have been delivered to R3.3 and higher code levels to address different causes of PCI bus errors. Our expectation is to investigate and address other causes as they are identified.
