TS7700 Can only report to the first hop of what it sees.

The TS7700 also supports a LI REQ command to provide the first Read Diagnostics Parameters of the first hop by using the LI REQ, STATUS RDP command.

This link includes different methods to check the healthy of the FICON SAN including the DISPLAY M=DEV command which allows you to see the end to end health of a IBM Z to CU connection.
