Incorporate CSR Generation Functionality into IBM TS7700 REST API

The IBM TS7700 Virtualization Engine, currently doesn't have the capability of generating CSR. The need for streamlined certificate management has become increasingly critical. Currently, generating a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for the TS7700 requires external tooling, which introduces operational inefficiencies and potential security risks hence the requirement for at the minimum a RESTAPI endpoint that allows authenticated users to programmatically generate a CSR directly from the TS7700 system. This endpoint should accept parameters such as:

  • Common Name (CN)
  • Organization (O)
  • Organizational Unit (OU)
  • Country (C)
  • State/Province (ST)
  • Location (L)
  • Country
  • FQDN Fully Qualified DNS Name (Optional

This I believe will have the following benefits to mention a few:

  • Operational Efficiency: Reduces manual steps and human error in certificate management.
  • Improved Security: Enables automated, consistent, and secure certificate provisioning.

In Conclusion: Adding CSR generation to the TS7700 REST API would be of great benefit. I believe this enhancement would significantly improve the usability and security posture of the TS7700 platform in modern enterprise environments.
