This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We have TS7700 that need to be isolated from production system. Having the possibility to vary FICON port down on VTS will add another security for data.

We are investigating this as part of our work on REST API. There are also security implications that are being investigated. REST API work has already been started and will continue through 2025. This specific request is not currently in plan, but will be looked at after 2025.
We don't want to manage this via FICON switchs because they are managed by another team and we want complete control, and this could lead to production issue if we shut wrong ports.
Have you investigated doing this via the FICON switch ports. If no FICON switch have you looked at doing it from the zSystem directory.
Additional information : this request for evolution follows the case TS013164210. The need is to have a "customer-ready" option to put the ports off without having to go through the SMIT menu. Thanks.
