A customer owns a solution for some of his backup jobs based on old native tape drives C07 / TS1140 whose End of Service already passed.
We’d like to replace it with a TS7770 with zTape Air-Gap Tape Exporter (FC5995) – which is a TS7770 with a small TS4300 which already can have up to 3 LTO8 tape drives (native capacity 12TB).
But the customer actually needs to save 90 TB already compressed via zEDC.
So we need the support of the span of logical volumes on multiple physical tape drives (at least 8 LTO8 tape cartridges or at least 4 if LTO9 tape cartridges will be supported in the future).
Spanning of logical volumes on multiple physical tape cartridges with zTape Air-Gap Tape Exporter (FC5995) is not currently supported and we need it.

LTO9 testing is complete. Spanning multiple volumes on LTO8/9 is still being tested. We anticipate testing on the spanning multiple volumes to be completed in the 2nd half. The LTO9 and spanning multiple volumes support will most likely be delivered via a VTD Exec after testing is completed.
