This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

This request has been delivered in release 1.10.0.0. Added REST support for cartridge attributes when querying GET /v1/dataCartridges and GET /v1/diagnosticCartridges. These cartridge attributes include media end of life monitoring attributes.
Hi,
Found this that may help you:
My customer used tape like disk in their distributed file system, like HDFS. It is very important for them to know the EOL of tape media. Do you provide rest api for them to collect media mounts time and EOL?
It would be good to have the information about media lifetime available via the Library GUI. Perhaps the library can also send alerts for this. The trouble with having this information available as tape alerts is that many applications do not care for tape alerts. TS7700 is a brilliant exception, it really handles tape alerts. Spectrum Protect can be configured to show warning (there is a config parameter for this). Many other apps also from ISV do not handle tape alerts. So having this available via the library gives the customer an application independent view of media life times.
I suggest to add information to the existing "mount history report" about number of "loads", "head pass counts" and "full file passes". I also suggest to add documentation to IBM Docs about the "early EOL" and "EOL" thresholds. With both the report and the threshold information the client can build a monitoring and watch media EOL progress.
