Automatic ingest for new tapes

I want to load new tapes into I/O slots and have them automatically moved into available slots based on function (data tape or cleaning tape). Right now, at least one magazine must be fully removed to add new tapes.

Sorry, I meant to say the TS4300, not TS3300!

I can script tape removal from the TS3300 using the I/O slots but when replacing those tapes, using the front panel interface to move tapes from I/O slots into empty slots is clumsy and slow when a lot of tapes are involved (and it requires training multiple people because of how the library is used) so it is much safer/easier to have operators remove the magazines and manually load tapes. I would like the TS3300 to behave like the TS4500 where new tapes loaded into I/O slots are automatically placed into empty slots without any user intervention.

The second option is to script the movement of new tapes from the I/O slots into empty slots but that is much less user-friendly because the computer used to run scripts can not be located in close proximity to the library so loading more than five tapes at any one time would be quite inconvenient and I suspect operators would choose to remove the magazine instead of dealing with the back and forth and waiting for the script to finish after each batch of five tapes were loaded.

    Thanks for asking!

Tapes can be added to the I/O station without fully removing a maganize. Can you provide more specific details on what are you trying to do ? (eg: what are your use cases?)
