Export performance data to any support case

The Export Performance Data action in Storage Insights has 2 options for where the data goes.

  • Upload to a support case

  • Download to the local system

If the user chooses Upload, Storage Insights restricts the upload specifically to a case for that storage device. You can only successfully export performance data with the upload option directly to cases that are listed in the Tickets tab for a device even though you can enter any ticket number. It will fail to upload otherwise.

Can we reevaluate this validation/restriction?

This is less than ideal and prevents easy uploading of performance exports from multiple systems to a single case for investigation. A workaround of downloading all the exports locally and then uploading to the desired case exists, but that is more cumbersome.

This validation does not exist for uploading the storage logs from a device. Why does it for uploading performance data?
