Please sign Insights with an IBM certificate - security apps block Insights binaries

Security software like Bit9 block Insights binaries. Insights binaries are blocked even after whitelisted by security admins because Insights files are copied to different folder than the installation folder. Also, automatic updates are not possible, updates need to be coordinated with the security group, who need to disable Bit9 across all the Insights collectors. A temporary workaround until Insights is signed with an IBM certificate might be to run ALL binaries in the installation folder. Binaries we have seen cause issues include python37.dll, forfiles.exe, _sodium.cp37-win32.pyd, _bcrypt.pyd, pywintpes37.dll.

The files listed above are copied from the installation folder to the c:\temp folder. Security software detects the files as new and unapproved and blocks the files from running.

Again, the ideal solution is to sign Insights with an IBM certificate.

Please reference TS009943369.

Thanks.

Hi Matthew, the request is for the Data Collector portion of Storage Insights (ie the cloud version).

Hello Joe, I'm looking at this idea and 109 which is about the behaviour of the binary when it's running. Can you clarify some information for me please:

Are you talking about Spectrum Control (ie the on-prem version) or is your issue with the Data Collector portion of Storage Insights (ie the cloud version).

I've also tried to find your tenant and look at your environment, and if I've found the right one, it looks like you've a mix of storage, not just FlashSystem/Storwize/SVC devices. Can you confirm this please?
