This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

If a database was cloned with FlashCopy Manager and this clone (D1) serves as source for another clone (D2) it is currently not possible to refresh D1 without deleting D2. For some scenarios this restriction has technical reasons. But by using fully allocated target volumes (with SVC) for both clones there is no technical limitation that requires the deletion of D2 while D1 is being refreshed. In environments where one clone serves as base for multiple other clones, business processes require that not all clones are refreshed at the same time. A solution for this issue could be provide by FlashCopy Manager in a way that the SVC copy relation gets deleted as soon as the copy process from source to target volumes has been finished. This way the clones would become independent and could be refreshed in any order.

I do not quite agree with your statement "For FlashCopy Cloning on SVC with FLASHCOPY_TYPE COPY we always set the consistency group and mappings up in a way that they get automatically deleted after the copy process has finished".
For our described use case in step 2, the FCM clone consistency group relationship of type COPY (=full) remains on SVC in state "idle or copied" forever - until it gets manually deleted. This automatic deletion IS actually our request!
In which FCM and SVC release will the copied consistency group be deleted automatically when the copy is finished?
This is planned for the Flashcopy manager release in 2013. For FlashCopy Cloning on SVC with FLASHCOPY_TYPE COPY we always set the consistency group and mappings up in a way that they get automatically deleted after the copy process has finished. If the customer chooses FLASHCOPY_TYPE INCR or NOCOPY the FC relationships will stay in place until the clone gets deleted.
