Enable FCM to use thin-provisioned target volumes if source volumes are thin provisioned

Currently it is not possible to use thin-provisioned target volumes as COPY (only with NOCOPY) with FCM even if the source volumes are thin-provisioned. This means for us to loose a lot of space for target volumes. The functionality is implemented in SVC, therefore we request that the functionality should be also implemented in FCM. The redbook "IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller and Storwize V7000 <br />Replication Family Services SG24-7574-02" states: <br /><br />"A thin-provisioned source volume can be copied incrementally using <br />FlashCopy to a thin-provisioned target volume. Whenever the FlashCopy <br />is performed, only data that has been modified is recopied to <br />the target." <br /><br />However, in the current version of FlashCopy Manager (v3.2) support <br />for the exploitation of this SVC / V7000 feature is not implemented.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager

    In addition:
    if you do incremental backups,
FCM must allow compressed volumes as Flash copy Targets.
Othherwise this can be a KO criterium to sell RTC.

This is a valid requirement and a solution is desirable. We plan to address this issue in the near future.
