This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.

Snapshot-based DP for Applications (with a broad Application Support, including Replication Control to a secondary Storage, for virtual and native Servers, including Application driven Single File Restores and Catalog Support) is seen more and more as a must have feature for a modern DP Software.
The FlashCopy Manager supports currently only the IBM subsystems DS8000, SVC, V7000 and XIV. But most TSM Customers use a mix of different Storage Vendors and want to use the snapshot capabilities of them from one Management Suite (Single Pain of Glass).
In case TSM/FCM will not offer soon an open model and Roadmap for the support of other storage products, many customers have to look for one of the growing alternatives on the market, which will have very negative impact for future TSM/FCM revenue streams.
A relatively open Framework is preferred, where the current market leaders for snapshot-based Storage should be supported by IBM delivered Connectors, but which offers also the opportunity to add code for currently unsupported Storage Vendor systems.

Attachment (Description)
For the supported systems connectors the German GSE community voted in April 2011 the following priorities:
1) ONTAP-based Systems (IBM N-Series & NetApp FAS):~60% want to have a support for that. (Snapshot-Support an Snapshot-Replication by SnapVault and SnapMirror is all seen as a must, SnapRestore-Support would also be good to have). The implementation effort for that all seems to be moderate (already partially tested).
2) Hitachi (HDS) Storage are on the wish list of ~30% of customers.
3) EMC Storage are on the wish list of ~30% of customers (currently not clear, which EMC Series).
4) HP EVA Series has been wished by ~5% only.
