Pre-Requisites Check Script

In order to consider and check all points on the pre-requisite checklist for FCM on Unix, Linux a checking utility would ease the work a lot.

Currently, the checklist is very complex and not all of the points are directly clear. Some points refer internally to other requirements that are not explicitly listed.

For the customer as well as for technical guys, this makes it difficult to mind all points explicitly which are listed. Result is that some requirements are not present and clear and so the implementation can not be performed or gets even delayed because of problem research.

A utility / script which generically checks the requirements (e.g. OS level, VG layout, application version, available storage system etc.) would ease the work a lot.

Even if this utility only collects the information automatically and summarizes them, this would be a great feature. This summary than can be explicitly reviewed by a FCM aware guy and lets point out potential issues.

    Thank you for submitting the request. This is a recognized requirement and a solution appears to be desirable and feasible.  IBM intends to provide an updated documentation
    to make the checklist much simpler and easier to following. A tool to automate the requirement checking process is not in the next release plan, but will be a candidate for future release consideration.
    However, IBM’s plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.
