Utilize FlashCopy Manager to do ad-hoc clones from the backup target volumes to eliminate impact on production systems

Customers are asking for the ability to clone their database applications (Oracle, ERP, etc..) and not impact the production system on an ad-hoc basis. They want to be able to 'clone on demand' during the day and the existing process causes a short term impact to the production system. They would like to use the target volumes that were created by the backup to clone so there would not be any system impact.

    Thank you for submitting the request. This is a recognized requirement and a solution appears to be desirable. 
    While Flashcopy manager does support integration with mirror target for XIV and Storwize V7000/SVC in FCM 3.2, 
    there are currently no  plans to provide requested function, No IBM commitment is made or implies as to the
    eventual delivery of an acceptable solution.
