This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Currently FlashCopy Manager v3.1 does have this functionality with NTFS volumes:
- create a VSS snapshot of a NTFS volume on host A
- mount this VSS snapshot as a new drive letter on host A
- unmount this VSS snapshot on host A.
This RFE is about the following:
- create a VSS snapshot of a NTFS volume on host A
- mount this VSS snapshot as a new drive letter on host B
- unmount this VSS snapshot on host B
So, this request is about an offload mount to another host.
Background: Currently in 3.1 it only is possible to mount a VSS snapshot to the host where the snapshot was taken (host A). This implies that a file-level backup (using the mounted VSS snapshot) only can be done on host A. In order to offload the file-level backup (to move the CPU/Memory resources to another host) it is necessary to mount this VSS snapshot on another host B. Then, this host B sees the mounted VSS snapshot from host A and then, a file-level backup can be started on host B.
