Roadmap to integrate Storage Defender with Fusion

As clients move from VMWare to OpenShift, the workloads are more data intensive and mission critical. Fusion backup and recovery is market leading for container workloads. OpenShift VM backup and recovery is supported with guest agents from IBM Storage Protect or IBM Defender Data Protection. That is not enough. Agent-based backup is not the preferred client approach nor Defender's preferred approach.

This is a tipping point for clients moving platforms to take share from the VM backup competition AND to strengthen Fusion's differentiation by expanding Cyber Resilience coverage aligned with the growing business critical workloads on OpenShift + Fusion.

Product Management roadmap should include native, API-level OpenShift VM protection from Defender Data Protect and Cyber Resiliency integration from Defender working with OpenShift + Fusion. That product differentiation for Fusion + Defender will appeal to clients with growing mission critical workloads running on OpenShift.

Clients considering a move from VMWare to OpenShift are looking for equivalent resiliency. Native integration without agents and cyber protection are key ingredients to give those clients confidence to move.
