Backup and Data Services support for Red Hat OpenShift Virtualisation workloads on Fusion HCI using Storage Fusion HCI

Many customers currently running Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) which will be discontinued.

They advised by Red Hat to migrate to Red Hat OpenShift Containers.

However since certain workloads may not yet to be OpenShift Container ready, they are instead advised to move them to OpenShift Virtualization.

It will be ideal, if customers would be be able to run both Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and OpenShift Container on a single unified platform, this case being Storage Fusion HCI.

We also have banking clients that are looking at running mission critical workloads on Openshift Virtualization.

These clients also have requirement for availing data services especially disaster recovery, backup & restoration, data management, etc on Openshift Virtualization with Spectrum Fusion HCI as a platform

Team, we need backup and recovery capabilities for Fusion SW and HCI.

Backup an OpenShift based VM (running using OpenShift Virtualization) because some of the customers uses Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation using RBD based PVCs configure for volumeMode: Block.

Customer needs ability to recover specific VM and have exclude VM capabilities so any VM where customer is running database, customer can install backup agent on specific VM.

Our Malaysia team has raised this RFE to get data services support for OpenShift virtualization workloads on Fusion HCI.

We seem some key requirements coming in Malaysia clients who had like to move out of RH virtualization ( as its EOL) and RH is proposing OpenShift Virtualisation. For key applications to run on OpenShift Virtualization on Fusion, data services must be tested and validated.
