Our customer Euro Information is a very large banking company. They have very strict administrative accounts policies and strong RBAC management in place. In the recent past, they rejected any software or hardware product that is not compliant with their policies and will do the same for the present choices. We delayed the customer presentation of Storage Fusion SDS for a Q2 2023 deal due to the lack of the administrator's account segregation capabilities in the current version of Storage Fusion SDS (2.5).
This request is to have Storage Fusion SDS use administrative accounts that are different from the default « cluster-admin » and « storage-admin » accounts available at OpenShift level. We need the « self-help » model that is a just feature described as a preview in the current roadmap (Phase 5 & 6) but not yet committed to be plugged in the Fusion Storage SDS 2023 roadmap. This is to show the customer we will be able to provide the required administrative segrefgation he is asking for very soon and being able to include Storage Fusion SDS in a large SW deal forecasted in Q2 2023.

To add onto that, various customers are asking for a more fine-grained "Backup-as-code" model.
Examples:
Users only has the rights to create and monitor PolicyAssignments, Backups and Restores for the application they are responsible for
A backup operator can create and monitor all Custom Resources related to Backup&Recovery but does not get Kubeadmin access.
This request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme is aligned with the current multi-year strategy. IBM may consider and evaluate any RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. IBM will update this request in the future.
