IBM Fusion HCI: IPv4, IPv6, and Dual-Stack Support on the Bond0 Baremetal Host Network

IBM Fusion HCI should be enhanced & designed to support both IPv4 and IPv6 for all Fusion HCI traffic. Today, provisioning traffic already supports IPv4, IPv6, and dual-stack. Baremetal traffic on the Bond0 host network supports IPv4 only. This idea extends Bond0 to IPv6 and dual-stack, so every Fusion HCI network supports the same choices.

  • A customer who wants to continue with IPv4 can stay IPv4-only.

A customer who wants IPv6 can run IPv6-only.

A customer who wants both can run IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack.

Customers can adopt IPv6 at their own pace, and existing IPv4 deployments keep working unchanged.
