IBM System Storage Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

When a restore fails in Fusion today, it cannot be resumed from the UI - TS023127830

When a restore fails in Fusion today, it cannot be resumed from the UI. The workaround script has a gap. Resuming from the Volumes stage creates new volumes instead of reusing the ones from the failed run, and the deployments don't reference them. This leaves duplicate and orphaned volumes and an inconsistent restore.

We propose a native **Resume** option in the Fusion UI that does the following:

- Tracks the status of each restore stage and the resources it created, such as volumes and PVCs.
- Resumes from the exact stage where the restore failed and skips completed stages.
- Reuses existing volumes from the earlier attempt instead of creating new ones, so deployments reference the correct volumes.
- Provides a "Retry from scratch" option that cleans up partial resources before re-running.
**Benefits:**

- Restore failures can be recovered from the UI without scripts or manual SRE steps.
- No duplicate or orphaned volumes, which reduces storage cost and cleanup effort.
- Consistent end state after restore.
- Lower recovery time (MTTR) and a more reliable DR process.
