Thanks for your comment . However, the option You've mentioned reduce the amount of data , which is fine and good and we're aware about the different tuning possibilities but such option will tend to have a permanent effect on the performance or requires custom scripting to modify the TSM client behavior. Our customer requires the TSM Client to set a limit on the bandwidth utilization, like the TSM for workstation does . This could be crucial in our case , even when considering node-replication since our customer is willing to connect remote server to a central hub via WANs shared with production traffic . thanks for your attention

Thank you for submitting this request. There already exist options for clients to optimize network traffic between client and server using various data reduction techniques such as progressive incremental, data deduplication, compression, journal-based backups, subfile backups, and include/exclude filters. beyond that there are also ways to manage data transactions. Refer to "Tuning network performance", "Tuning client performance" and "Tuning server performance" sections in our latest version 7.1 documentation at the following URL: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/tsminfo/v7r1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.itsm.perf.doc%2Ft_tuning_parts.html . Additionally, if using TSM FastBack for Workstations, there is a specific option for network throttling. If this doesn't meet your requirements, please respond with more specific details to help further clarify.
