This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

We are going to implement the API to automate the commands "query backup" and "restore" as a web service with unicode support. Unfortunately, this task can't be completed successfully, although we orient on the code that was provided with the SAMPSRC package inside the API. We're using exact the same config file as DSMC / backup client does.
As the result of our service request (04836,073,724) we were informed, that the API was never designed to access backed up contents made through the TSM backup client. So We are requesting you to enable the API to be capable to interop with the backup client.
Goal:
Having a managed c++ library consuming the TSM API, that handles the desired commands.
RfE:
enable the API to be capable to interop with the backup client.

Thank you for submitting this request. Unfortunately, we cannot commit to delivery of the requested enhancement in the next year or two. We have heard of similar requests from other groups who developed their own interface on top the B/A client's command line interface as the alternative. Further, there are other solutions the team is currently investigating that potentially address the issues raised in the request but at this time we cannot provide any statements regarding delivery commitments. If, after the next release of TSM, you would like your request to be reconsidered, please resubmit the RFE. Thank you for your commitment to TSM and support in moving our products forward.
