This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Thank you for submitting this request. Support for the backup-archive client is being targeted for a candidate release this year This statement should not be taken as a commitment as IBM direction and plans can change. We will provide an update to the RFE is such plans change or the support is delivered. We will continue to evaluate this platform support for other TSM clients according to overall strategic priorities and customer demands.
Please add the Dept. of Geography of the University of Zurich to the list. Our main fileserver with about 100TB runs on Solaris 11.1 x86 and UZH central IT provides backup services via TSM only. If IBM does not reanimate TSM client support and development for Solaris x86, we will be forced to look for another backup solution.
We also have production Solaris x86 systems that will not be retired any time soon.
To provide backup to these environments we will also need updated clients.
We at Virginia Commonwealth University would like to add our voice to this request. We have numerous Solaris x86 systems in our Center for High Performance Computing that need TSM Client support.
