Be able to change retention for individual VM guests being backed up with TSM VE

If a customer wants to change the retention time for individual VM guest backups, the customer has to change it for all vm guests that are associated with the Data Mover node. Because TSM VE stores the individual guests as file spaces under the data mover node, the customer would have to change the retention period for ALL of these VM guests.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

Thank you for submitting this request. The recommendation to address the use case is to use the include.vm option available as of TSM 7.1. Please consult the documentation for VM include options for more details: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/tsminfo/v7r1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.itsm.client.doc%2Fc_vmware_incl_options.html. This will allow you to bind the VMs to a management class with the desired retention times.
We appreciate your feedback and continued support in moving the product forward.
