Enhance SnapDiff Backups to run alongside SnapMirror

Currently, SnapDiff backups have two possible options.
–diffsnapshot=create, which is the default, means that TSM creates the snapshot and then compares that with the previously created snapshot to determine the difference for backups. This has a disadvantage in that you cannot use this approach to perform backups on a remote, DR filer because SnapMirror causes the volumes at the remote site to be in R/O mode.
-diffsnapshot=latest means that TSM uses the latest snapshot which is already available on the filer or, in the case of a DR filer, is copied across from the production filer by SnapMirror. However, this option currently does not work with SnapMirror active because, as part of it's operation, SnapMirror creates temporary snapshots. These temporary snapshots, whilst usable by the SnapDiff API to create a list of files to back up, will be deleted by SnapMirror so are unsuitable for the actual backup.

An additional requirement is to remove the restriction whereby TSM must create the first snapshot. This would then allow SnapDiff to be implemented without the need to stop SnapMirror which would compromise DR for potentially long periods.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
