This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We have seen in many large TSM-VE implementation that the multithread options from TSM-VE 6.4 is a good feature, but has its limit relatively quickly.
I think we should have a way to identify and display the load pushed on ESXi hosts & clusters & datastore by backup operations. I'm thinking to have such, somehow, in the vCenter plug-in for instance, as a report (e.g "backup load report") . This would help folks to have a clearer picture of what is going under the cover, and provide a great set of information to better tune up the backup tasks by re distribute the backup load.
In the meantime.
In addition, I would like to see some enhancement around stats to be able to easily figure out that the limitation (when reached) is not necessarly a TSM/TSM-VE one, but a datastore I/O limit, or max number of snapshot per ESXi hosts, or also maximum NFC connection (when NBD is used) ... and so on ...

Thank you for submitting this request. We understand the requirement but unfortunately we will not be able to implement a solution in the next year or two given higher prioritization of other TSM for VE enhancement requests. We will continue to track this one internally. If after the next release of TSM you would like us to reconsider, please resubmit the RFE. We appreciate your continued involvement and support in making our products better.
