Request for TSM to handle different retentions for Virtual Environments

To be able to perform Incremental forever backups using different retentions (such as daily, monthly and anually). Currently, TSM for VE cannot use the same set of backups to assign different retentions. Only one management class is possible.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

We definitely need this feature. How long until it is implemented?

We need to keep all of our VMs for 35 days, but a large number of them must be kept for 35 daily backups and 12 monthly backups. Also, some are also required to have yearly backups on top of this. I can also see a requirement for weekly backups...ie 35 dailies, 12 weeklies, 12 monthlies, 7 yearlies etc

EMC Avamar - the product we migrated from - could do this with absolute ease. It is quite a simple and obvious feature to use and in my opinion a solid requirement in a backup product.

Can we please have an update on when this feature is going to be available in TSM?

    Regards,
    Marty

Our customers have a huge requirement for this. The latest being a customer one of our BPs are dealing with wants to keep 1 VM for 90 days but all the others for 30 days.
