Litigation Hold Property on File Spaces.

Provide an ability to prevent expiration processing to occur for a file space when a node becomes part of a "Litigation Hold" issue. The status of enabled would over-ride expiration processing of files/folders in the file space.

Microsoft Exchange 2010 has a similar feature allowing the Exchange Admin to select which components within Exchange are NOT deleted even when the Outlook client "deletes mail".

I have attempted to modify nodes by assigning a "no expiration" value via an option set filter and mgmt class. But later reverting to default retention has been problematic.

The simple checkbox approach would easily and QUICKLY allow an administrator to avoid loss of files and file versions during a situation in which files on that node are subject to a litigation issue.

The fact that preventing file loss would take effect immediately (prior to the next expiration cycle) would keep the legal team happy.

When the litigation has cleared, an un-check of the "Lit Hold" property would allow normal expiration processing to occur upon the next cycle, thus clearing files from backups that no longer meet desired retention..

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

There have been several instances in the telecom industry where this would be a very useful feature. The ability to set this across all nodes/filespaces was recently needed. Luckily it was determined shortly afterwards that specific nodes only needed to be put on hold.

Thank you for your request and our apologies for the delay in responding. We are considering implementing a change to satisfy this requirement, but are still investigating the best method of resolving it and fitting it into our prioritized list of work items. We believe that this will be included in one of our upcoming releases, but cannot make a firm commitment at this time. We will update the RFE when our plans for this work have been committed.

Looks like this could be easily implemented as a binary field in the filespaces table.
Just please make sure there is a command line method for setting and unsetting this field.
    I personally loathe guis.
