Customer Natixis (large Bank) is using TSM as their enterprise backup solution. They are also using Celerra NAS from EMC and use migration/HSM features of those devices between different CIFS network shares to lower the price of the hardware.
For recovery functional requirements, they want to perform two type of NDMP backups on the NAS Device :
1) backup the NAS with stub file (default) for Disaster Recovery purposes
2) backup the NAS with the content of the stub file for file/folder recovery purposes
To switch between the 2 backup modes, they require NDMP controls to setup a NAS environment variable called "EMC_OFFLINE_DATA". This environment variable is set to "no" by default in the NAS and they would like TSM to set optionnaly the value to "yes" when launching the NDMP backup for mode 2.
So this RFE is for TSM to support environment variable sent to the NAS device thru NDMP commands.
