Capability to distinguish between active and inactive Oracle backups

Some way to distinguish between active (most recent) oracle backups and the old versions. Two common reasons to protect Oracle databases are for DR purpose and record keeping due to legal obligations. But these two methodologys have completely different RTO´s and RPO´s for the same database.

Currently if you are making use of technologies like active-copy storeage pools, Node Replication or any other DR technology in your TSM enviorment you typically want to protect all your important data from a DR prespective, so having the most recent backups is pivotal. However protecting your long term backups is often not legally requerd and hugely costly due to the number of versions and data needed for that methodology.

In TDP for Oracle there is no way to distinguish between active and inactive versions because they are all active, which is the necessary first step would one want to implement a solid cost-effective DR solution that does not include the historical data.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

Thank you for submitting the request. This is a recognized requirement and a solution appears to be desirable. This request is not in a committed release plan for next year,
but the theme is aligned with our multi-year strategy, and will be a candidate for our future release. IBM’s plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.
