ASR Support for EFI systems

ASR-based recovery must be performed from within the Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE). The exception to using ASR with Windows NT 6 operating systems is for 64-bit systems whose firmware interface is based on Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) rather than Basic Input/Output System (BIOS).
Currently EFI-based systems must use the "Modified Instructions ..." procedure BUT Microsoft disclaims support for "online system state restore", which is the basis of that method.

Almost all new shipped physical servers are EFI systems.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

Thank you for submitting the request. This is a recognized requirement and a solution appears to be desirable and feasible.  IBM intends to provide a solution in 2013.
However, IBM’s plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.

If IBM considers Tivoli Storage Manager a solution to be able to Disaster Recover current Windows systems running on IBM hardware, the support for ASR on EFI systems is mandatory.
