Backupset performance and backupset colliding with reclaim and expiration

We have had problems with crashing backupsets because backupsets collide with reclaim and expiration processes when executed.

We have managed to do a workaround so that reclaim and expiration are not executed while backupsets are created. This however creates another problem because in some TSM installations we have several hundred clients and when creating backupset of all clients it takes a lot of time(several days). The performance of the backupset is also problem because TSM can't create many clients backupset simultaneously. Only one at a time. Due the poor performance we would have to manage many days without doing reclaim and expiration and that's not a good thing.

So the feature we would need has couple different issues. First we would need to have better performance in backupset creation. Use many tape drives simultaneously or similar solution to speed up the backupset. And second to have the backupsets run smoothly without deadlocks in the database so we wouldn't have to use the workaround described earlier.

I opened a PMR of this but didn't get any help from there. 73164,130,70 is the ID and I could not insert it to the PMR ID field. System did not accept it.

    As discussed via email, fixes are included in TSM 6.4 (TSM server 6.3.3) and additional efix is available depends on the issues you've encountered.
