Support for Dell Equallogic FS7500

We recently added a Dell Equallogic FS 7500 NAS for the storage of our faculty/staff, administrative and student file shares. We would like to see the FS 7500 added to the list of supported devices so that we can backup the system using TSM and NDMP. Currently NDMP operations fail with an unsupported device error.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

It is unlikely that TSM will explicitly support additional NAS devices for NDMP operations as it does NetApp / N series.  Instead, TSM provides generic NDMP support that allows a NAS vendor to obtain TSM certification through Ready for Tivoli.  To do this, the vendor NDMP implementation would need to comply with a TSM specification (which probably would require some code changes by the vendor) and then perform testing under Ready for Tivoli.  This program has been in operation for many years and is how TSM supports NAS vendors for NDMP operations without needing to develop new TSM code for each vendor.
