Thank you for submitting the request. This is a recognized requirement and a solution appears to be desirable. Part of use case B can be satisfied by use copy storage pool to associate the backup with a different
management class with different retention policies. The overall request is not in a committed release plan for next year,
but the theme is aligned with our multi-year strategy, and will be a candidate for our future release. IBM’s plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.
The ability to selectively delete Legacy TDP SQL would give TSM Admins the ability to have far creater control of the backups that are important to them and their customers. It transfers the management of versions and deletions back to the TSM admin rather than having to hide tasks in scripts that are called.
I fully support the RFE proposed by David Abensour and hope that IBM can develop the functionality that TSM Admins could use to great affect.
