We would like IBM to provide an official support statement and a detailed compatibility matrix for IBM Storage Protect Server 8.2.x when performing NDMP backup and restore operations against Dell EMC PowerScale (formerly Isilon) storage systems.

Specifically, we request confirmation regarding the support, certification, validation, or interoperability status of the following OneFS releases:

  • OneFS 9.5
  • OneFS 9.6
  • OneFS 9.7
  • OneFS 9.8
  • OneFS 9.9
  • OneFS 9.10
  • OneFS 9.11
  • OneFS 9.12
  • OneFS 9.13

The requested information should include:

  1. Official IBM support status for each OneFS version.
  2. Whether the versions are formally tested, validated, certified, or supported through interoperability testing.
  3. Any IBM Storage Protect Server version requirements or limitations.
  4. Supported NDMP protocol versions and features.
  5. Known restrictions, limitations, APARs, or recommended configurations.
  6. Documentation references and support policy statements.
  7. Future plans to maintain and publish a compatibility matrix for Dell EMC PowerScale OneFS releases.

Business Justification:

Many enterprise customers continue to use Dell EMC PowerScale/Isilon as their primary NAS platform and rely on NDMP integration with IBM Storage Protect. Currently, there is limited publicly available documentation indicating which OneFS releases are officially supported by IBM. A published compatibility matrix would help customers, partners, and support organizations make informed upgrade decisions, reduce deployment risks, and improve operational planning.
