Warning message needed for deleting any data storage in object lock storage in cloud in IBM storage Protect server

  • Current behavior: ISP allows deletion actions (e.g., DELETE FILESPACE) even when target data is stored in a cloud container storage pool with Object Lock.

  • Risk: Admins can mistakenly remove catalog references while the cloud objects remain undeletable due to retention or legal hold.

  • Desired:

    1. At minimum: surfaced warnings before such deletions.

    2. Optionally: a policy/setting to block deletion from ISP for Object‑Locked data until retention/holds expire.

Business advantage

  • Reduces accidental data loss attempts and prevents catalog/object state divergence.

  • Lowers storage costs from orphans and simplifies audits.

  • Improves admin experience and transparency.
