This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

As an Enterprise Backup solution, Storage Protect should have the ability to integrate with very widely used DB systems such as PostgreSQL (Used in Enterprises as much as in smaller business and private environments). Storing Backups using the DB systems native Backup-to-file/Dumping features and backing them up as files using IBM SP is a very basic way of backing things up and often requires third party software or scripting to achieve the level of Backup granularity/detail required for Enterprise applications.
Since OpenSource DB systems provide freely accessible code, often APIs or interfaces IBM SP could interact with and development of IBM SP for Databases could rely on, it is beyond my personal understanding of why a product such as IBM SP does not already officially support backing up these DB systems.
Please, please consider this for a near future release. Many customers would appreciate not having to spend extra money on third party software that enabled simple things such as PSQL backups to IBM SP.
