Add Support of Snapdiff API v3

Dear developers

NetApp provides a protocol or API called SnapDiff. Spectrum Protect currently supports the API in the Release v1. Now that v2 and v3 of SnapDiff are already available (as a REST API), NetApp has discontinued support for v1 in current and future ONTAP releases. This means that our customers (many of them universities in Germany) are faced with the problem of replacing their existing backup software if the v2/v3 versions of SnapDiff are not supported in Spectrum Protect. It is of great interest to us that the development and support of this feature will be continued.

Regards Alexander

We need extended support time for Snapdiff API v1 and v2

As long as the implementation of Snapdiff v3 in Storage Protect is not complete, we and other customers still need support for Snapdiff v1/v2 to backup our Netapp filer. We will run into serious problems if there emerges a support gap in the transition period.

At this time November 2023 the first problems occured with incomplete installation packages for Ubuntu x86 clients (Backup Client 8.1.20). The Netapp plugin could not be loaded because of missing libraries and license files.

    Additional Information:

According to this documentation Snapdiff v1 and v2 where re-enabled in ONTAP 9.10.1P11 and newer:

Any news on this? As the submitter points out, this issue can cause users to chose other backup vendors.
